All applications for internal (Loyola supported) and extramural funding must be processed by the Office of Research Services (ORS). Only the Associate Provost for Research is authorized to sign applications on behalf of the University. Faculty applying for external funding or sponsoring students applying for funding are asked to provide information and obtain University approvals prior to submission of an application to a sponsor. This required information is submitted by the faculty via the on-line Proposal Transmittal and Approval Package (PTAP). The PTAP process uses a secure system with user names and passwords. In addition to submitting a PTAP electronically, faculty are responsible for printing and routing the hardcopy PTAP Cover Page, additional PTAP Forms (i.e. Salary and Position Request) and a complete copy of the application to the authorized representatives of the University who are required to sign the PTAP, usually the Chair, and Dean. The original application and signed PTAP forms must be delivered to ORS for review and approval prior to submission to the sponsor. The Associate Provost for Research in the ORS is the final signature on the PTAP forms, and is responsible for signing the application documents on behalf of the University.
Faculty are asked to provide the application and PTAP to ORS at least five days before an application will be submitted to a sponsor. Earlier contact is recommended for assistance with budgets.
